Adjara
Adjara is Georgia's south-west corner, where the Black Sea meets green subtropical hills with high mountains behind them. Most people stay in Batumi, for the boulevard, the botanical garden and warm evenings by the sea, and use it as a base for day trips from Batumi.
Along the coast are the pebble beaches of Kobuleti, the tea-plantation hills of Chakvi, the beach under the cliff at Tsikhisdziri, below the ruins of Petra, and clear water at Kvariati and Sarpi by the Turkish border. Inland, the Mtirala rainforest is close to Batumi, the Machakhela gorge has arched stone bridges, and the road up the Adjaristskali valley leads to Makhuntseti waterfall and the mountain villages around Khulo. Higher still are Goderdzi, a ski resort in winter, and Beshumi, a cool summer escape.
The sea is for summer. Spring and autumn suit the rainforest and the valleys, and winter brings snow to Goderdzi.
From Batumi there are ready-made day trips: Old Batumi with a driver who waits while you walk, Mtirala National Park, Mountain Adjara and a ski day at Goderdzi. Mountain roads are slow, so we send a car suited to the road and the season. Before you book, you see your driver, the car and one fixed price for the whole car.

Questions
- What day trips are there from Batumi?
- Old Batumi for half a day with a driver who waits while you walk, Mtirala National Park in the rainforest above Chakvi, Mountain Adjara up the Adjaristskali valley to Makhuntseti waterfall and Khulo, and a ski day at Goderdzi in winter. Each has one fixed price per car.
- Can I visit the mountains of Adjara in winter?
- Yes. Goderdzi is a ski resort in winter, and the drive up the valley is slow in snow. In heavy snow a mountain road can close at short notice; if yours does, we move the trip or refund it.
- How do I get from Batumi airport to my hotel on the coast?
- Book a transfer from Batumi airport to Batumi, Kvariati, Sarpi, Chakvi, Kobuleti or wherever you're staying. Give your flight number when you book: your driver checks the landing time, and a late flight is never a no-show.
- Which beaches are quieter than Batumi?
- Chakvi and Tsikhisdziri, north of the city, and Kvariati and Sarpi, near the Turkish border, where the water is clear and deep.
- Can we add stops on a transfer along the coast?
- Yes. Add them when you book: a stop is free, and you pay only for any extra distance.
