About this trip
Mountain Adjara starts less than an hour from the beach. The road follows the Adjaristskali river inland, and the first stop is Makhuntseti, where the waterfall is a few minutes' walk from the road. The arched stone bridge named after Queen Tamar crosses the river nearby.
Further up, the valley narrows and the villages cling to the slopes. Khulo is the main town of the upper valley, and its cable car crosses the gorge. The ticket is paid separately, on the spot.
The road is winding, with a lot of bends. Around three hours of driving in total, so there is time to stop wherever the view deserves it. If you get carsick, tell the driver and they will take it slowly.
