About this trip
Gudauri is Georgia's largest ski resort, on the Georgian Military Highway below the Jvari Pass, with lifts reaching around 3,300 metres. The season runs roughly from December to April, depending on snow.
The road passes Ananuri fortress on the Zhinvali reservoir, a short stop on the way up if you want one. At the resort you ski on your own; ski passes and equipment hire are paid separately, on the spot. It is about four hours of driving in total, which leaves a proper day on the slopes.
The car runs on winter tyres. In heavy snow the road towards the Jvari Pass can close at short notice; if it does, we move the trip or refund it. Outside the season the same drive makes a good mountain day.
