About this trip
Khevsureti is one of the most isolated corners of Georgia, and Shatili is its best-known village: stone towers and houses built into one another so that together they form a single fortress, close to the border with Chechnya. The road crosses the Datvisjvari pass at about 2,700 metres. It is open only in the warm months, roughly June to October, and we send a car suited to the road. Day one is the drive in; on day two, if time and the road allow, you can see Mutso, another fortress village nearby, before the long drive back. Around seven and a half hours of driving over the two days. You stay overnight in a guesthouse, which you book and pay for yourself. Accommodation is not included.
