About this trip
Day one is the drive from Kutaisi up to Mestia, most of a day on a mountain road. In Mestia there are the medieval Svan tower houses and the Svaneti museum.
Day two goes to Ushguli, one of the highest permanently inhabited settlements in Europe at about 2,100 metres, with Mount Shkhara behind it. Ushguli is part of the Upper Svaneti UNESCO World Heritage site. The road is rough and needs a 4x4 and a driver who knows it. You return to Mestia for the night.
Day three is the drive back to Kutaisi. Accommodation is not included: you book and pay for your own. Museum entrance is paid separately, on the spot.
